A Tribe Called Mi'kmaq
We are a contemporary style powwow drum group that came together in 2009. We are from Mi’kma’ki (the maritime provinces of Canada), including Paa’tnkek, Indian Brook, Eskasoni and Gesgapegiag. We are very grateful for the opportunity to represent and sing for our people. The drum plays an important role in our lives, and has opened the door to many practices, customs and traditions long practiced by our elders. The drum is our teacher, and its spirit teaches us to sing for our people, and for the blessings of life, the Creator and creation.
